In a shocking incident that unfolded in the Bhagwati Bazar area of Ilambazar police station in West Bengal's Birbhum district, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was reportedly tied to a pillar and brutally beaten by angry villagers, accusing him of having an extramarital affair with a woman from the locality. The incident has sparked widespread sensation and controversy in the region.

The TMC leader, identified as Dalim Sheikh, holds the position of booth president in Khadimpukur village, located in the Nanashol area of Ilambazar, Birbhum. According to local sources, he had allegedly developed an illicit relationship with a woman from the Bhagwati Bazar area.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday when Sheikh went to meet the woman in the village. Villagers caught hold of him, and he was subjected to physical assault, including slapping and shoe beating. Subsequently, he was tied to a pillar, and some individuals present at the scene took photographs of the deplorable act.

The video depicting the assault and the woman being confronted by the locals quickly went viral, further intensifying the attention around the incident.

Upon receiving the information, the Ilambazar police station dispatched officers to the location. They managed to rescue Sheikh from the clutches of the enraged villagers. However, it was reported that he sustained multiple injuries during the assault.

In response to the incident, the local Trinamool leadership expressed their condemnation and swiftly expelled Sheikh from the party. Sheikh Dulal, a Trinamool leader from Ilambazar, emphasized that such behavior was not tolerated within the party and announced the expulsion.
